Hi Hannah and Matthew,

This Webpage is from Granddad and Dianne, Granddad will write the first bit and Dianne will write the last bit.

Granddad

I hope you remember me in your prayers every night, because I sure love and miss you both, please be sure to look after your Mummy and Daddy while I am away.

Dianne and I left Toowoomba for Alice Springs on the 8th October and we are now living in Alice Springs in Central Australia ... about 3,000kms from your house … I guess that’s a long way.

We were expecting it to be very hot .. guess what! ... it’s been raining and storming since we arrived, I was told this is very unusual, it has hardly rained here for many years ... I guess Dianne and I must have brought the rain with us.  I am told the water in Alice Springs comes from Papua New Guinea under the ground and from Darwin through a big water pipe.

I towed my caravan to Alice Springs and Dianne drove her little Suzuki car in front of me, we were able to talk to each other on a two way radio so we wouldn’t be so lonely.  There were lots of towns along the way and I got to stop at almost every petrol station because my car used so much fuel.  Below is a picture we took when we stopped at the Walkabout Creek Hotel, the same hotel in the Crocodile Dundee movie on TV.

We saw lots of Australian animals along the way, we had to stop twice to let a Mummy Emu and her four little babies cross the road … they were very cute!  We also saw lots of Kangaroos, Camels, Rabbits/Hares, Huge Lizards, Snakes, Eagles and an Echidna/Spiny Ant Eater.  I wonder why an Echidna is called a Spiny Ant Eater, I have never seen them eating Spiny Ants in my life … in-fact I have never even seen a Spiny Ant in my life.  Please let me know if you find any Spiny Ants?  Dianne took some pictures along the way, if you look carefully you can see a Kangaroo in the picture below.

Some towns are a bit dry in places...this is a picture of Dianne's foot and the ground at a town called Camooweal...isn't that a funny name?

Dianne's turn to write her message to you ... so I will say Lots of Love, Hugs and Kisses from me to you both ….

“Dianne”

Hey Hannah and Matthew!

I hope that you are well. I am well!

On the way to Alice Springs at a place called Roma I saw a bush full off butterflies...can you count how many there are?

Can you see the butterfly flying around in the distance?

Hannah do you still like butterflies a lot?  I do!

This is a friend of mine, his name is Cameron, we go bike riding together.  I fell off my bike yesterday...down big rocks.  God looked after me though, because I didn't get hurt very badly at all, just a few scratches and bruises and gravel rash!

Matthew do you still like riding your bike?  I do...even though I got a bit of a scare yesterday when I crashed!

I miss you both a lot! I hope to hear from you soon!

God Bless

Lots and lots of love

Your Aunty Dianne
