Hey everyone..
I went for my first drive out of Alice since I've been here, it was Sunday afternoon on the 30th October 2005.
I wasn't going anywhere in particular, so I ended up taking Larapinta Drive until I ended up at Simpsons Gap.
I passed the sign expecting something exciting, perhaps even scary ....
There it was in the distance, but it looked like a fairly ordinary site to me!
When I got nearer I realised this was definitely a very ordinary place, and after a couple of yawns I headed for something more exciting. It was Ok but I was out to see something that made it worth consuming the fuel.
This is where my memory became a bit fuzzy, I think this next place is Standley Chasm. Anyway I ended up walking for about 15 minutes through a kind of valley full of rocky paths and overhanging cliffs.
There was plenty of heat here and I think I should have taken water and worn shoes rather than thongs. As I passed the occasional person returning I asked them if it was worth the walk, each said yes ... so I was happy to complete the journey.
Hmm .... this looks interesting!
Definitely a pleasant change, the water was very clear and now I am glad I wore thongs. After paddling around for a while I noticed something on the rock wall.
Some of the local residents were just clinging to the wall watching me.
As I was leaving I took one more picture of this very pretty place, but I wanted more! So if you want to see where I went from here you will need to press on this LINK.
